Oh this is absolutely positively one of the most exciting times of my life. I can't believe I am really going to do this. In 3 1/2 weeks or 26 days I start my first semester of nursing school. It is all I can think about. I am scared and nervous and excited. My hubby and the kids and I are going on vacation on Friday for a week so that should help pass some of the time away. I can't wait! So are you counting the days? And what are you doing to pass the time away?

Yes, I'm counting! 32 days! Today I went and bought some of my books... the fundamentals book alone was 1800 pages... how will I ever carry them all!

At our reistration/orientation meeting, the instructors recommended that we cut our books out of the binding and punch holes in the pages. They told us to get a notebook and only cary the sections we were working on at the time. She said not only is it MUCH lighter, but it doesn't look so overwhelming. Now, I don't know if I can bring myself to cut up those expensive books, but maybe after carrying them for a day or two I will be convinced.

Cheryl,

Yes, I can relate to your anxiety about the change in lifestyle! Our marriage has been a traditional one for 25 years. Just this past couple of years we have learned to make some changes and they haven't always been easy ones! My husband has been great and is about as excited as I am... but I am dreading what is to come with our home life in the next 24 months! I am trying to get things organized around the house this month and freeze some meals so that I won't have those things always on my mind. We have a 16 year old daughter that helps quite a bit but this week she started marching band and that means that we won't see her much until the end of Nov... poor hubby! It will be on him! Oh well, now he'll really know what being a Mom is about!

Ouch! Holli... cut those books up? Great idea for the morale and back, but I wonder if I would be organized enough to remember which part was where.

Well even thought I already took part of this program.. I'm SCARED to DEATH.. Nervous, excited, just full of emotions.. Not really counting the day's but have been getting everything organized.. In about another week or 2 will start putting my Daughter to bed at 8pm to get her ready but taking a weekend away in about 13 day's. so that will be my 1/2 way mark to getting thing's finalized and settled here at home before Sept 3rd.. We have had 1 class already and will have another one on August 21 to get our book's becuase we have homework for the 1st day of school plus 2 quiz's.. But I think I'm ready...

Ufff... the education systems are soooo different. OK. I start my classes on 25th!!!!!!! :D So far I've been only told to get stethoscope and the lab manual. Everything else will be a big surprize for me. (except that I know that our future instructor hates the perfume smells) My uniform fitting is on 7th. I am receieving a stethoscope today as a b-day present (:balloons: to me :) ) I am trying to learn bones, vessels and the rest of anatomy in advance thanks to the "web sites" posting. My kids are going to school/day care on the 2nd, so my husband will spend his vacation with them while I am studuing. Look like everything is set up..... but I am shaking with anticipation and fear. My hubby even told me that I just might have cursed the summer, since I want september to start sooo much and ...well..summer here has been rather chilly this year :wink2:

Isn't this such an exciting time? And scary! I am sooo with you all. The idea of cutting the books is intriguing but not sure I could do it. The summer that seemed so long at the beginning (before summer school), sure is coming to a close quickly.

I wish everyone the best of luck. I imagine we're going to need it.

I couldn't chop my books up! No way! I am probably going to put them on my bookshelf for future reading. Anways, the days are sure flying by, I only have 9 more days! yeeepiee!

I have 22 days left over here....Not sure if I can't wait...of if I'm nervous...or what it is...This is the first step towards the FINAL goal...and I'm almost halfway there!!!

Here's an idea, too, for those with husbands and children...or at least what I am thinking of doing for the nights I won't be home until real late....THE CROCKPOT!! Throw it together in the morning before leaving, and it will be ready and waiting for them when they get home!!:D

Good Luck to EVERYONE!!!

Congratulations to everyone. I will be starting A & P I in the fall and I'm a little nervous about that. Can anyone tell me what to expect. Actually, I'm registered for Microbiology also, so I think my plates pretty full. Any suggestions! :sniff:

Roxie187 - That is alot to chew. The best of luck to you. I am taking A&PII & Fund. of Nursing & Med/Surg. 1 too. 14 credit hours. :o

Hope to keep my head above water and not drown.

I wouldn't worry too much about it...I took Physiology, Micro, English, Sociology and Nutrition (19 units) last semester and still got a 4.0...A's in all. So, as long as you are committed to the work, you will do fine!! :D
