I've never taken a soc class but I'm thinking, how hard can it be? Famous last words perhaps! ;)

I bought a text book to do a once over and I normally test pretty well. Any experiences you might have with this one would be most appreciated. Thanks, Jules

Planning on clepping sociology as soon as I finish the NLN

I have no idea what CLEP means, but I have taken 2 sociology classes and done very well in them. I like those kind of classes and Psychology. I suppose it would depend on what your interests are, I knew some kids that really struggled in Psych and Sociology, for me, they were easy 4.0's

Mi Vida Loca, CLEP consists of a series of examinations that test an individual’s college level knowledge gained through course work, independent study, cultural pursuits, travel, special interests, military service schools, and professional development. The American Council on Education (ACE) recommends the minimum score for awarding credit but each institution determines its acceptable score and the amount of credit granted for each examination. CLEP General and Subject examinations are accepted for credit by more than 2,900 colleges and universities.

In short..take 1 exam for a semesters work of information (by studying CLEP study guides and such) for only about $70..and get credit without spending money on tuition..and saving lots of time!!

In my case..I got a C- in Sociology when I was in college..so I will not receive credit for my pre-reqs. I don't want to take the class again..so I'm going to study for the examination and hopefully, CLEP the class..so I won't have to sit through 16 weeks..and save some money (and time) in the process!

Interesting, I have gone to 2 different colleges for a couple years and have never heard of that. I wouldn't have minded doing that for a few classes LOL

Especially my 3 credit nutrition class. I have never studied once, never even cracked the book besides to do the self test for HW and I have a 98% in the class. It's just seems like common sense stuff and so flippen easy. Yet I have to go to class 3 hours a day once a week at night. I would have loved to just test for it.

Anyway, thanks for the info.

Interesting.

For my nutrition class we had to know a lot of details about vitamins, minerals, daily caloric requirements, human metabolism etc. that I wouldn't have known if I didn't at least read the book. Plus we had to research and write papers.

I hear so many people saying "I never studied once and I got an A." I wonder how they ever managed. I have never attempted to get an A in a class without studying, but I wonder how I would have fared if I did.

We have to do all that or know all that as well and we have a research paper I will have to do as well. I guess when it came to this class I already knew a lot. I have always been pretty self educated on fitness and nutrition. It's been nice since my Patho class takes up a lot of my time.

All of my non science and math classes have been pretty easy for me. Our first exam was worth 50 points and had 20 extra credit points on it. W/O studying at all I got a 46 out of the 50 and 18 Extra Credit. Most of it was fill in the blanks, matching a couple short answers.

It's not like this for me in all my classes by any means, but this class has been super easy, and my Psych and Sociology has been as well. But again I already had a lot of knowledge in those as well.
