Why do you come to All Nurses? is it for the information? the camraderie? to waste time? the jokes? relaxation? What reasons?

I come for the info and to get a feel for what the different fields are like. I also love the friendships that I have made here. This is my relaxation time (the only time I get) and I can learn something to boot!

I come here because there is no other place like it on the web for nurses and nursing students. I personally enjoy the group of students that are just starting LPN classes. They are so sweet! Everyone here is very supportive, and honest with their advice. I'm extremely happy I found this site...I really feel like I won't be starting nursing school as a niave gal. I somewhat know what to expect thanks to this site:)

basically to waste time...see if other people have the same headaches as i have...and to practice my advice-giving skills.

To find out what I have gotten myself into! Just kidding. I am a new grad and I am fully aware of issues facing nursing today. I am ready to begin my first nursing job and I look forward to it.

This is a great site because it looks very nice and has a well thought out design (thanks Brian). And it just wouldn't be the same without all of its awesome members. This site has made me laugh so much! Allnurses features horror, romance, comedy, action, drama, and animation (think avatars)....who needs TV or movies?

LOL!! No let me correct that. When someone realizes that they are losing an arguement and have no leg to stand on, they resort to picking apart the spelling and grammar of the poster they can't win with!! I do notice that quite a bit.

:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: I just had to do it.....I just had to (don't hurt me! LOL!) but argument is spelled a-r-g-u-m-e-n-t!!! LOL!

:) I like to know that I am not the only person in the world with thoughts and opinions about nursing.I like that I can feel free to express myself here.I think the latest news stories are interesting too.I don't have much time and before I know it a half hour has gone by or more!

Specializes in LTC.

At first it was to see what I could learn. I learn more about nursing, and about people, too. We're such a diverse group.

With all the topics, forums, and the break room and current events, we can talk about anything.

I can't just email my cyber sweetie all day. lol, just kidding.

No one else in my family is a nurse, so they don't "get it." :o My husband is in a completely different field and doesn't "get it." My kids are too young to "get it." But you guys all "get it."

In nursing school, I used to come to the site to read posts by "real nurses" to see what kinds of issues you/they faced, and to read about specialties I was considering. Once I graduated, it was a way to explore/express frustrations that I was having as a new nurse that I didn't feel comfortable sharing with new co-workers.

Now, I am actually leaving nursing after less than a year on the job. But I'll probably still come to AllNurses.com because I am ADDICTED too!

I was coming to the site pretty regularly to discuss politics...alas, those discussions usually deteriorate pretty quickly and I start to get angry and tense... :angryfire

BUT THEN - teeituptom sneaks in some short, funny comment in his signature style, with that signature line, "keep it in the short grass, y'all" - and it always puts a smile on my face! :D :) :D :) :D :)

Because I can't stay away. (hee hee) I love nurses! I love you for all that you do and all that you are.

I am one of those people who have always wanted to be a nurse. This site allows me to get as close as I can to the real experience of being a nurse. (without actually being there )

Hey, they should have a reality show called "The Real Nurses" "See what happens when nurses get together and start acting real." (or something like that!) LOL!

i started coming to this site to learn what other nurses are going through and why so many nurses wanted to be in a union.

i found that many nurses feel the way i do and don't want to be in a union. they still see many problems to be solved. they just choose to seek another way to do it. i also learned, through listening to others, that many nurses are not as fortunate as i am to be in a supportive environment and they see unions as the only way to make progress.

i have learned to listen to these nurses and to appreciate where they are coming from. it doesn't make me want to change my own beliefs on unions but it helps me to understand their reasons for joining. i try to always see both sides and look for ways to bring all sides together in harmony in order to work on our problems together.

i continue to share what we have come up with in a grassroots group of nurses i belong to in an effort to encourage other nurses to think for themselves and speak for themselves.

i feel that the most powerful position in nursing today is that of the staff nurse. we can be a mighty group if we band together with one voice. whatever way you choose, use it for good and realize the power you have within yourself to make change. you really do have a voice if you use it right.

the best way to promote change and understand others is to listen before you decide on an approach. this is why i see allnurses.com as a very valuable tool for all of us no matter where we live or work. it is a wonderful way to meet many nurses who have different experiences. the main thing to remember is that we are all in this together and we are more alike than we are different this site is a great opportunity to learn from others:nurse:

:rotfl: LOL @ CNM2B. Pam

I think its because, we laugh, we cry, we argue, we vent, and then we laugh again. It's a breath of fresh air to come here, no matter what mood your in, you can always play it out here. It's kinda like this TV theme song we all know, but not quite, I changed the words to protect the innocent:

Making your way in the world today takes everything you've got.

Taking a break from all your worries, sure would help a lot.

Wouldn't you like to get away?

Sometimes you want to go, where NOBODY knows your name,

and they're always glad you came.

You wanna be where you can see, our troubles are all the same

You wanna be where NOBODY knows your name.

You wanna go where people know, people are all the same,

You wanna go where NOBODY knows your name.

You want to go where people know, people are all the same;

You want to go where NOBODY knows your name.
