If I'm planning to go into ER nursing when I graduate should I get my emt or cna? Also can I work as an ER tech with either?

It may not be worth it to get either. What are you doing right now for work? ...and graduating from what? Nursing school? High school?

Scope of practice can vary by location and facility, so your "can I work as an ER tech" question is pretty much unanswerable without knowing where you are.

Nursing school. Graduating in a few years

I thought about doing this - even applied (and was accepted to) an EMT program here, but then I learned that after one semester of nursing school, you can usually work as a nurse tech, so I figured it wasn't worth the time or money.

I'm volunteering for the hospital I hope to work with when I graduate - making those connections.

And I think I want to work in the ED, but I figure I might change my mind during clinicals.

Yeah. The facility where I work designates these students as "Nurse Externs" and they work in the capacity of Techs in Medical, Psych, and ER.

That's what I've done, volunteering is amazing
