which is more profitable: OT or side PRN?

Hi everyone. I work FT at ED right now, but thought about making extra $$$ at my old obs unit doing comparably hell lot a easier work as PRN, but then though, what if I make more doing OT at the ED job? There are ample amt of +$10/hr bonus shifts that I can do as OT at the ED, or I can ask my former manager to use me as PRN at older unit, but as I never held PRN position, I don't know how much the pay usually is. Anyone care to let me know please, I will greatly appreciate! You are awesome.

At my old hospital, it was way more profitable to pick up OT. We could pick to shifts with $200 shift bonuses and once you added in overtime the nurses were making $600/shift as new grads. But the floor was crazy, and no one could consistently work 60-72 hours there every week, or they'd lose their minds, so most people has a second job and just worked OT around the holidays. Financially profitable can me mentally detrimental.

$200 bonus for a shift? now that is some serious bonus, but I doubt my shift will offer anything even remotely close to that.

In theory, it's more profitable to pick up OT since it's paid at a higher rate (time-and-a-half to double-time).

In actuality, I find I can get far more side PRN opportunities than I can get OT opportunities. Depending on where you work and how well staffed it is, your mileage may vary.

Well we aren't staffed very well although the manager says she's hiring more people, so we frequently, very frequently see bonuses. A ton of them ND I don't think they are goknf to rub out any day soon
