What organization to join? I'm a new grad...

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Specializes in Telehealth, Hospice and Palliative Care.

Hi, all. I'm a new grad wanting to join a professional organization. Does anyone have a favorite?

I'm looking for...

1. Something fairly nonspecific. I don't have a job yet, so I'm looking for something with a publication that covers a lot of ground (e.g. clinical, research, professional, and management topics.)

2. Something with very frequent publications. I like to learn new things. Twice a month would be optimal...assuming that it can't be daily :)

3. Something that looks good on a resume when applying for a variety of hospital and clinic positions.

4. Something with free CEU's

5. Something with a new grad membership discount.

Thanks to you all!

American Nurses Association

Specializes in Pediatrics, Cardiology, Geriatrics.

I agree. ANA for sure!

Specializes in ICU, MedSurg, Medical Telemetry.

AACN -- American Association of Critical-Care Nurses

Specializes in Occupational health, Corrections, PACU.

ANA definitely is the starting point. If you have your BS, and great grades, Sigma Theta Tau.

Specializes in Telehealth, Hospice and Palliative Care.

I didn't even think of the ANA...I was looking at all the little specialty organizations. :uhoh3: DUH!

Thanks for the replies!

It's $175, unless I get the limited membership that doesn't get me any publications!
