HELLO!

Just curious, what is your favorite shift to work and why?:)

Specializes in Community Health Nurse.

For years, I preferred working eight hour nights until I read about the negative health affects working nightshift has on females in particular. Now, when I return to work in nursing, I will opt for the evening shift, or twelve hour days. Did I hear someone say, "Good luck on the twelve hour dayshift...any dayshift?" Yeah, right! :chuckle

I Love my 10:30 to 6:30...... b/c I have kids to put on the bus in the mornings and hubby works 7 til 3.... the house is sooooo quiet LOL, but I worked this shift before I get married and til I took 6 yrs off to have kids. I have always been the nite owl prob why it doesn't bother me to work it!!! Laura LPN

My favorite, oh most favorite shifts at work are the ones to which I am not scheduled......Why? well duhhh as my kids would say.

Ok well the ones that I do have to work, I like my nights, work 7p-7a. It takes a different sort to work days.........I have always been a night owl, never a morning person. but I am afraid I am going to have to join the ranks of the day people soon. I hope my skin dodn't melt with all that light exposure.

:D I have worked the day shift and night shift and much prefer night shift bee-cawse... there are no administrative people trying to tell me how to do my job when they have no clue as to what I do anyway...I refer to them as "suits" or "pantyhose and pumps". :( Geez...stay in your office and leave me the hell alone.

I agree,Renee, night shift has taken it toll on me, physically and mentally, but at least it has spared me from a life sentence in women's prison. I have told many of them to either put on a set of scrubs and help or get the hell outta my way. Hmmm..have yet to see any of them expend any energy to help...but by golly they sure know how talk a good game...they develop committees and write colorful, detailed descriptions of how things "should be"...yet they are clueless... give me the night shift anytime. :D :D :D

3-11, you could go out and have fun, but then be up, bright eyed, and bushy-tailed for the next day!

I work all shifts but prefer to work evening shift. I do not like to wake up to an alarm clock in the morning and it is much easier to do errands and schedule appointments.

I like working 12 hour night shift--7pm to 7:30am because Day shift is too busy! No "idiots in the suits" walking around to pester me. No doctors are around at 3 am and not too many family members call to check on their loved ones condition at 3 am either!
