Hi

I was wondering what is the typical schedule of a travel nurse and would it be possible to work something like every other month as a travel nurse?

thank you

Aren't travel assignments/contracts typically for 13 weeks?

Travel assignments are typically for 13 weeks in duration. There are some 4 week and 8 week contracts as well. I would certainly ask the recruiter about shorter lenght contracts they might have.

Good luck and happy traveling

Typical schedule for a travel nurse depends entirely on the unit s/he will be working in. Some allow self-scheduling. Some just fill in "holes" in the schedule with the travelers. Pretty much the same as the staff nurses. As another poster said, assignments are usually 13 weeks, but can be longer or shorter. All of this is discussed with the nurse manager during the phone interview before the traveler accepts a travel assignment.

You would be able to do a four week schedule every other month, but only some agencies staff for these.
