I really wanted Kathy, but that was taken. The only other screen name I use is what I used to call my dog and I didn't want that for a nursing board. I lack creativity. Some of my relatives call me Kate. When I got my PhD a friend playing off Dr. Quinn Medicine Woman addressed the card Dr. Kate Library Woman. That was more creative than I am so I went with it. This is the only place I use the Dr. and really should change it as I find it a bit pretentious. But procrastination is my best thing . . .

I used to be overweight (obese) after having a couple kids. My name was symbolic of my goal weight I wanted to accomplish (the weight I was prior to having kids). I accomplished my goal but keep the name as a reminder to maintain my health and never be overweight again. :)

I love the stories behind your names. They're soooo interesting. And Kwager, I also watched Emergency when it was on, and while I was working at a neighbor's house, a person came into the store part and asked for some help for the next dooe neighbor who was passed out on his lawn. My neighbor volunteered my services.
I used what CPR I learned from the TV show, and kept doing it until the ambulance arrived. I was soon recruited into the ambulance corps where I spent 15 years as a volunteer, and the only EMT for 10 years. And I loved every minute of it.

and this is kind-of dumb. My husband says I drive him crazy (mentally) & that I bring chaos to everyone's life. I'm very indecisive (sp?). I'm also an RN - duh! :chuckle

My better-half's name was "Doc Lavinder". He had Juvenile Rheumatoid Arthritis and had been in a wheelchair from the age of 2. He was told all of his life to "remember his limitations, he would never be able to drive." As an adult, he not only drove a specially equiped van, he drove a Race car. A 1935 Nash which was being used as a chicken coop when he found it in a farmer's field. He named his Race Car, the "Severely Disabled Chicken Coupe", and promoted the Ability in Disability for 7 years Drag-racing around the Pacific Northwest. At the Drag-strip I was known as "Doc Lav's Lady". After his death in 1997, I got a computer and got online, using lavslady as my ID as a continuing connection to my beloved. (His story can be seen at: http://www.geocities.com/doclavinder ). His Race Car can be seen displayed in the NHRA Museum in Pomona, CA where I donated it so his story can continue to inspire people with disabilities. And I continue to be Lavslady.
