So on some container labels for certain IV drug products I have come across/administered (e.g. Dextrose 10% 500 mL or 0.45% Sodium Chloride) there is a warning that says "Do Not Use Flexible Container in Series Connections" or "Must not be used in series connections." I want to know what this is referring to? Does anybody know what a series connection is?

I think it means do not connect tbem end to end

From Baxter website: Do not connect flexible plastic containers of intravenous solutions in series connections. Such use could result in air embolism due to residual air being drawn from one container before administration of the fluid from a secondary container is completed.

That makes sense. Thanks, Guy. umm (2).gif
