What do you know about Methamphetemine?

My community is having an explosion of this epidemic, we have pts who are positive for it, and visitors who also appear to be users. Are you also encountering this? What do you know about Meth? I always thought it was snorted, but someone told me that they smoke it too.

I lived in the San Joaquin Valley of Central California for 2 years and moved away from there in late 2005. Methamphetamine is a huge phenomenon in Central California, so much that 80 percent of America's meth supply was being produced there until a few years ago.

And 80% of the meth produced in Central California comes from a neighborhood here in my city. Meth is scary. It doesn't matter if you have a neighbor come with you to visit the house; I'd bring cops anyway. And probably gloves and a mask as well.

Its main ingredient ephedrine or pseudoephedrine. Many cold medicines and weight loss drugs have this as the ingredient and nasal sprays. In my state if the OTC drug has this in it you have to show drivers license and they log it in so you can not buy a certain amount per month. Many OTC drugs are trying to take it out of the ingredients but you can still find it.

Here in Oregon, pseudoephedrine isn't just behind the pharmacy counter, you need a perscription for the stuff......it's considered a controlled substance. We have a huge Meth problem here and this is one way they're trying to address it.

I think the apt. I once had was a meth house as well. I lived above some people that were definatley smoking something. It was the worst smell I ever encountered!! Worse than anything in hospital that is for sure. I still never found out if it was coke or meth. I never really knew what meth was until it shows in the newss.I had heard about crack and stuff but a friend of mine came over one night and asked me if I was smoking crack-undoubtly it came up the vents..and he knew exactly what it was..so it prob was crack but I will never forget that awful odor...I always had to burn alot of candles to rid my belongings of stench. Finally they moved out. Strange group..for sure.

Just an update, I decided to hire a lawyer to deal with my tenant, they served a 3 day notice to move for non-payment. Just talked to husband, he is being docile and will be out on Sunday. He goes into alcohol detox soon, I gave him some multivitamins and calcium/magnesium bottles with instructions to take them because of his alcoholism. He promised to. I wished him luck and told him I'd give him a portion of his deposit back if he was out on Sunday.

I'm selling this property this spring, I will more than double my investment. I don't want to deal with this type of tenant anymore

Also in Oregon if found with a meth lab and there are children the state moves to immediately terminate parental rights, no second chances, it is estimated that 90% of Oregon's foster children are there for parental meth use. Oregon used to have one of the nations highest area of meth users, one police officer for multnomah county started the "faces of meth" campaign that shows the mug shots of users over time. Even if you think that they are not making it they could, as there have been meth labs found inside of cars, so use caution when entering the house.

I did call CPS opn the daughter across the street and they started a file on her. The daughter of my tenant came over the other day when I came for the 24 hr notice that the officer said I had a right to do. She does have all the appearances of a meth user, and was confrontational until I stated that I was calling the cops. It's really sad. she has a baby of about 1 1/2

That's a shame. Poor baby. What kind of life do you think that little one's going to have?
