Is there anyone that is interested in learning more about transplant patients and the care that goes into providing for them? I have worked on a med-surg/transplant floor for almost a year now. We most frequently see kidney and liver patients but we also have lung and heart patients admitted to our floor as well. When I first began I was always very nervous when I was assigned to a transplant patient. (The medications, procedures, common problems that arise, etc.) Now that I am more comfortable, I am interested in learning more. I don't recall my nursing school delving into much detail about caring for transplant patients so I wish there was a place that I could ask questions.

Check and see if there is a local chapter in your area. Also the core curriculum is pretty good. Might be worth seeing if you can get your floor to buy a couple of copies.

I would also love to see a Transplant forum! I am working in the SICU right now for my training, but I am going to be in the Transplant ICU. They are building it all on the same floor as the med/surg and progressive care. I absolutely LOVE my job!!! I would love to have a forum to discuss it!
