student developing solutions to help nurses prevent pressure sores

I am a student at Illinois Institute of Technology. My senior design project is working on an affordable solution to help with pressure sores, so we are trying to survey nurses and health care aids who have hands on experience with the problem. I appreciate any help in advance. Thank you. :nuke:

Need clarification. Is this in regard to prevention or is it treatment of existing pressure areas? A design project would be dealing with support surfaces on beds and/or chairs? What exactly do you want to survey?

Wow, what a great project. If you can come up with something, you will be millionaires. There would be soooo much demand!

The only inexpensive way to prevent bedsores that I know of is to turn patients frequently and if they are incontinent to clean them ASAP. Even with the very best nursing care, sometimes open areas will happen in spite of our best intentions.

If you could come up with some inexpensive air mattress that would be easy to clean and maintain, you may have something there.

does anyone no where i can find videos on pressure prevention and pressure sore care and also bed making wud be great as well and thats videos

check out epi max by dermagesics a product used to treat any wound type from abrasions to stage iv . I do work pt as a TX nurse and changing to this product really cut down the amount of overhead not to mention time saving looking for supplies. The best best way not to prevent pressure sores and facility acquired wounds is good nursing care and attention to detail. :typing
