  • What research has been published in the last 3 years concerning this disease process or new treatments? Is there a clinical trial available? Where are the best centers for treatment of this illness? My name is Charlie Koroma Iam a nursing student in Indiana State University. I am a first year student.

There are is always research out...but I don't have any links to current research. There is a huge stroke conference in February that I am going to and I am sure that they will be presenting any and all new research there, so if you wait unit feb, I can get you some info! There are current clinical trials going on for new treatments for acute stroke as well. The only approved medication for acute stroke is TPA.

there ihas been a lot of interest recently about keeping weight, cholestral, and b/p down and all of these are good for preventing strokes...clot busting meds if used soon enough p a cva [for blockage strokes] are good...carodid endarectomy [sp?] also a prevention intervention...
