yipes. that's a tough position to be facing. i've not walked in your shoes, so please take my advise and make it work in whatever way suits you best. when my nusing school colleagues faced a similar situation, laid it out- realistically, can you do what you need to do and pass? if yes, then buckle down and do it, how can we help? if there's no possible way for you to pass, then drop. keep in mind, though, our program had a fail 2x and you're out rule... many of us tried to save the "drop" for our pedi rotation, as it was rumored to be THE BEAST of all courses... they were wrong, but that's a different story. Best luck and warm wishes whatever your decision.

no one can predict how u will test or move through the rotation thus i would look at what resources can u access to help with your studies. School is brutal when u r trying to work,study and be a mom yet to put it off for fear of failure can cause delays or even a permanent end to your pursuit of a nursing career. No easy answer but at least i see one good attribute in a potential nurse,when in doubt ask for help. good luck

Without knowing your schools rules about readmit. I would stay, learn as much as I could remain positive and worse case scenario I would have a good idea of what to expect next time. Talk to your faculty also they may be able to help you.

When I was in my second semester of school I totally bombed a test (the lowest in a class of 64) I was sooooo tired the day of the test, even dozed off a couple of times during the test. I was ready to give up. I seriously thought I did great. Imagine my shock when I saw how terrible my grade was. I was ready to drop out of school. I figured out how many points I needed to pass. I figured out if it was even possible. Then I worked my a$$ off and was able to do it. I felt like it was an upward battle the whole semester but am sooo glad I did it. Now, if you are able to get enough points to still give you a passing grade then go for it. Are you getting bad grades because you didn't know the material or was it like my situation and you just stretched yourself too thin with work,family and life in general? If the latter is the reason will those problems still be there next year? Something to think about. I wish you the best of luck. I know how hard your decision is.

I'm 35 with 4 boys and yes it's very hard studying, working, and being a mom, and like you, it seems like I've been in school forever. You're almost there. Do all you can, get resources, talk to your instuctors, read, read and read some more. Get a babysitter or someone to help around the house but get back on that horse and do this. You can! I feel like giving up sometimes too but I don't want to be in school another how ever long. We gotta work through this. Maybe you can study with someone from school or your instructor can recommend someone or somewhere to go. I wish you best in whatever you choose;)

What kind of grades will you need to pass? If you need near perfect scores on the remaining exams, I would suggest you withdraw (or take an incomplete).

You should talk with your instructor/dean ASAP and have their input. And also explore ways to improve next time. Additionally, there are scholarships/grants out there for Adults returning to school/w/families - you just have to find them.
