I am 43 years old. I have a family and a part time job. I am am in the pedi, maternity protion of the program. A junior. I had to leave the program last year because of work. I passed med surg and now my average is a 69, we need a 77 to pass. I got a 78 on my first exam and a 60 on my second. I have never gotten a grade this low. Now I have to do extremely well to pass. I could drop out and go back next year. I have until Wed. with no academic penelties, but in a way I don't want to. I want to just pass through the program. I am confused.
My youngest says, "Mom, that means you would be a junior for three years"! "You have been going to school most of my life, just graduate already".
Plus, gas is going out of sight and tuition climbs every year. Money wise, I don't know how much longer I can do this. I have hit the books. Any thoughts? I would be very interested if there were any.
It's hard to say what you should do because we don't know how many more classes you need to take or how many you've failed already or what your school mandates. Some schools only allow 2 withdrawals OR failures.
If you've NEVER failed before and you only have one or two classes left, then I would say that you should stick it out. There's only 2 months left in the semester. You probably have only 2 exams and final or 3 exams and a final. If you have failed another course OR you have several more courses to take, then it may be better for you to withdraw. It just depends on your program requirements, the number of classes you've passed already/failed, and how many more classes you have left.
I guess it all depends on how many more exams you have til the end of the semester. If you have enough to get back into passing without having the expectation of doing outside yourself and by that I mean say you've been averaging 80-85 on your exams and now to pass you have to get a 95, it's entirely possible but not very probable. Given enough available points you can get back.
My 1st adult med test of this term was over Endocrine, I went in feeling good about the material and thought I had a good grasp on the subject. When I clicked submit my grad popped up, whopping 64. I'd never done that bad on any exam ever, crushed, started having doubts if I belonged in PA school. I pushed through it, got good strong mid to upper B's since, now at the end of the term I'm sitting with a decent B average with 1 test and a 200 point/question final in 2 weeks. Things can turn around if you have the time to do it.

thank you all for your comments. I had to withdraw once already because work would not comply with my school schedule. I would need to get all in the 80's a 90 would be nice. I am trying to study my butt off.
I only have until wed. to figure this out.
