I graduated with my BSN 4 years ago with a 2.9 GPA. I always knew I wanted to go back to school for my Master's, but practically all graduate programs are asking for a 3.0 GPA. I specifically want to go for Psychiatric NP. But if I can't get that, I'll go for something else. Is it possible to increase my GPA somehow, or will some schools accept my GPA?

Specializes in kids.

Contact the institution, and tell them exactly what you what to do. Ask them, what needs to be in place for this to happen. They may provisionally allow you to enter, take a course and then allow full admission into the program based on success in first course.

Do REALLY REALLY well on your GRE exam. I don't see any possible way you can increase your GPA 4 years after being awarded your degree. The more competitive the program, the more emphasis will be placed on GPA. In some programs with a 3.0 minimum, there are so many qualified candidates that the actual minimum GPA will be much higher.

In programs that are not cut throat competitive, they may be much more willing to excuse a low GPA if your GRE is high and your work resume is impressive.
