I have a friend who went to school and got her nursing degree and took the state board exam about 3 times but failed all times....this was 9 years ago, and now she's been thinking about re-taking the test but no one can give her an answer as to what she has to do to retake the test b/c the cut off is 3 years and then after that you have to retake something but no one will or can give her a definite answer as to what it is she has to do for this....she got her degree in school so she doesn't need to go back to school again she just needs the state exam...can anyone answer this?

Your friend should contact her state's BON...they are probably the only ones with a clear answer to this, as I'm sure it must vary from area to area.

Most states require a remedial course if you have taken the test 3x and failed. As NurseKatie08 suggested, have your friend check with your state board and they will let her know what course of action to take.
