Reaction to Cardizem....

This is NOT a medical advice thread, as I have already called my cardiologist and went to the ER this AM.

The ER doc seems to think I have viral infection. She told me that usually med reactions happen instantly. I started the cardizem about a week ago, and my cardio told me that it would take a full week to reach full effect. Also this AM I was doing some research on Cardizem and what I read was that you can break out in a rash for up to 20 days after starting the Cardizem.

I was in my Nurse Residency orientation and the nurse educator was like "Go to the ER now!" I think they have seen my dedication to being there :lol2:

I started on a medrolDose pack, pepcid (for stess ulcer maybe?), claritin and benedry as needed...and changed the Cardizem to verapamil.

I feel like POOOOO!

So I guess my question really is, have you ever seen someone break out in in a full body (and I mean FULLL body! ) rash from cardizem? This was the first time I had ever heard about this...

This is asking for medical advice and I doubt you want us guessing. Best bet (and sounds like you've done so) is to ask for advice from your medical professional.

Hope it resolves soon.
