What kinds of things would cause rapid weight loss? 34 lbs in 30 days

I am stuck on Thyroid?

P.S. Thanks for the postoperative hysterectomy help, funny thing is I learned that in class today. I told my friend next time let me check my notes first so we could schedule her concerns and I would know what was going on.

What comes to mind first is also cancer. Has a pt. with pancreatic Ca and he lost wt. rapidly.

I'm not kidding. A surprise divorce and I went from a size 9 to a 4 in no time!

OKAY, I AM REALLY, REALLY JEALOUS! I think I found all the weight you lost after MY divorce!!!

A very large tapeworm perhaps?

That, and CA, hyperthyroid, intestinal disorders that decrease absorption, stress, substituting food with ETOH, Alzheimer's patients that plain just forget to eat....and the list goes on.

Freshman RN,

You are on the right track. As you develop your skills, you will learn critical thinking, which is what you are referring to when you said that you don't make conncetions sometimes. It'll come with time though, don't worry.:)

My Mom lost a lot of weight when she had pancreatic CA. Started at 125 and when she died she weighed 68 lb. Pretty sad to watch your mom start to look like a refugee.
