Question about travel nursing.

I know this may be a silly question, but do travel nurses have to sign a 1 year or 2 year contract? I am really interested. Are there any companies where you do not have to sign a contract.

Which travel nursing companies have you had the best experiences with?

Most travel contracts are for 13 weeks. Occasionally contracts may be for 4, 8 or 26 weeks.

Your travel experience will be dependant on you doing some research. I don't have trouble with agencies as I research them prior to even talking with them. The majority of assignments are 13 weeks, you are not committed to any agency outside of that contract. If you are pleased with the company then about half way through your contract start asking about the next assignment. Decide where you want to travel to and what you want to see. Research the cost of living in each area also as that will make a difference in what you will accept for wages. Talk to other travelers and get their opinions on specific companies and what benefits they are offered. Ask about specific facilities too, some have good and bad units. I won't work in union facilities as they seem to have their own need to mess with travelers as they probably can't easily mess with the regular staff. I won't work a strike either, not worth getting your vehicle and apartment vandalized. Different agencies have contracts with specific facilities and not all can get you the best deal. Last minute needs are good if the facility has a good reputation with travelers.
