I spend too much time thinking about this.

PETS: Within 5-10 years I fully expect to see patients being able to bring their pets in. There will be limitations, of course, but dogs, cats even, yeah...I can totally see that happening.

VIDEO SURVEILLANCE: 24 hour video surveillance in the PATIENT'S room. Maybe not everywhere but video has become so cheap especially relative to other things. I think... I think it's a horrible idea...but I'm honestly not sure.

what do yall think? What are some things you could imagine happening?

With the major headaches that airlines have with emotional support dogs. I see this as a major issue when someone can get a harness and badge online for their emotional support guinea pig/ goldfish/miniature pony. Aren't emotional support animals called "pets"?

I understand that there are people that require trained emotional support dogs. I am referring to people that want to bring their pet with them (without any training to be a support animal) wherever "pets" are not allowed.

I think video technology as it is now is perfect and ready for roll out. The barrier if data storage retention and elimination are all solved digitally. For major events the video is in impartial witness.

Where it will really get harry is when they can marry AI to real time video. Right now video review is limited by paying a trained human to review it. Even the best can only process so many hours a day with any kind of accuracy. With AI however every second can be scrutinized. I predict a future where a fully videotaped hospital will have an AI program that generates reports on each employee in regards to hand washing, rounding, and medication administration compliance.

I predict Obamacare will morph into socialized medicine within the next 10 years. That means basic healthcare will be available to all, but everything else will be rationed.

And whoever controls the rationing will be powerful, indeed.
