Prep for PALS

I'm taking PALS in about 2 weeks and still have to prepare. Is this enough time to prep or should I postpone the class?

I Think 2 weeks might be cutting it, but it's totally doable. Our nursing school gave us 4 weeks to study for ACLS and PALS, so it was enough time for us. Remember the main drugs, The 12 Hs and Ts, and also remember the algorithms (and the amounts of medications). Respiratory issues are big in PALS! Know the difference in S/S of upper vs. lower respiratory issues.

Asthma and shock are biggies too! Know what to do for those.

I did not prep at all and had no problem, but that may have been because of the way the course was taught. I would think two weeks should be sufficient if you follow the advice above.

More than enough time. Most folks I know don't prepare at all; but most of us are repeat offenders. Just relax, and read through the book once or twice. Nearly all the AHA material for providers has been simplified/dumbed down over the years, so there's less reason to stress.

time enough. Do you have a crosswalk for the 2010 guidelines or a new book?

PALS is very easy. I just read over the info that they sent me when I registered. Pretty much the answer to everything was either providing oxygen or giving 20 mL/kg fluid boluses.
