Nurses General Nursing

Someone please help me! I have been applying online for the same hospital position for months. It was available several months ago and I have been listed as "under consideration". I was contacted for a phone interview, but wasn't able to proceed thru the phone interview at that time due to the hours. My status online has never changed from "under consideration".

The position has been continued to bee listed as available on the hospital system's computer website for months. I waited and waited in the hospital online "blackhole" system. I saw another position listed on the same unit, just different hours, and re-applied to that position. Still, more waiting with status as "under consideration".

Finally, I called the nurse manager directly on the unit. She said I sounded like a great fit, asked for my contact info, and said someone from HR would likely be in touch with me. Then about a week later, the job is now listed as canceled. I do another online search and the job is still available, only under a different requisition number. Someone please enlighten me! Why would a job that has been listed for several months be canceled and then re-listed two hours later? Did their budget change within a span of two hours/a day?

What do I do now? I really shot myself in the foot for not proceeding for the phone interview the first time I was contacted, because of a schedule conflict, but I still really want a position on this unit, regardless of time/schedule.

Do I call the nurse manager again in a week? :/ I know it probably has nothing to do with me, but why is a job req that has been listed for months canceled and then re-listed. Even so, why aren't the candidates notified of the re-listing?

Bring a resume (and maybe application?) to either the unit and or HR.

Doing things online and or over the phone is a great way to never get interviewed.

not at my facility. They refuse to talk to anyone unless interview was set up by HR. Waste of time if screening shows the person is not a candidate.

Numbers online can change because the post expires after a time and has to be re-entered into the system. At least, in our system.

The re-posting probably has more to do with software than with you. I would re-contact the manager (either in person or *gasp with an actual, written-on-paper LETTER) and see where it goes.

I know that at our hospital, you really have to be ON them. (Them being HR and the floor managers). Show up in person with a resume and cover letter. Send a thank-you card even if they just do a telephone interview. Call and follow up weekly. Hopefully it will show how interested you are in this position and after awhile it will be hard to forget your name.

Good luck!
