peri-Op course at community college?

Hello! I posted this also on the OR forum, but wanted to if anyone else has had an experience with CC training courses. Has anyone ever taken a peri-Op course offered by a community college? I can't find an OR job right now, and I would like to do something rather than wait for a job to open up. The course is 2 semesters long. The first is lecture and the second semester is lecture plus clinical at a local hospital (students are in charge of finding their own clinical spots). Its Peri-Op101 certified, which is the curriculum local hospitals use.

I just dont know if its worth it. I also dont know if a hospital will make me sign a 2 year contract after I took a year of OR classes!

I don't know where you are or how courses may vary but Jane Rothrock (editor of Alexander's Care of Patients in Surgery text) teaches at a peri-op course at a community college in south Pennsylvania. A few nurses I worked with took her course. You can bet that one had a great reputation. I'd guess it is a model for others.

The last semester of my schooling I had applied for a similar class, had I completed this class (for I had dropped, too much for my final semester) I might still be employed, for there is a high demand for OR nurses at present. I'd say go for it!
