pay rate expecting in plano texas as full time tele/med/surg RN II

Nurses General Nursing

Published

Hi everyone,

I'm a tele/med/surg RN with 13 months experience at Orlando, FL. Me and my family are looking for opportunities to relocate to Plano/Allen area in Texas. I'm really interested in THR and have an interview appointment coming up this Thursday 3/17 for tele unit. HR recruiter told me their pay rate for RN II is btw $24-26/hr. I'd like to know whether that sounds about right in the Plano market. And also, anybody had interview experience with THR Plano? What type questions were they asking? I'm also working with Parallon travel agency at the same time, which formerly known as "all about staffing". I'm trying to see what offers I could get and decide then. Any comments about parallon pay housing or general experiences would be appreciated. Btw, I'm ASN for now, will finish up my BSN in may this year, if that makes any difference.

Thank you in advance for any input and help.

$24 to $26 is the new grad RN pay range for hospital systems in Dallas and its suburbs (Plano, Frisco, Allen, etc). With 1 year of experience $26 to $28 seems more in line with the prevailing pay rates for the area.

However, that area has no shortage of nurses, so they will simply move on to the next candidate if you do not accept the pay they're offering. They are unlikely to negotiate pay with a nurse who has 13 months of experience.

Are you sure you want to live in Plano or Allen? Those areas are pricey compared to more affordable suburbs nearby.

Thank you for your kind reply. The main reason we were looking into Plano area is for the high rating schools considerations. What other suburbs nearby and other THR locations do you recommend? And how is the typical nurse patient ratio over there? Shift differential? Thanks

THR shift diffs are good. $10/hr on the weekend in Dallas. Plano is probably similar. The pay rate for a 13 month nurse sounds right to me. Plano and Allen both have great school systems. Love joy is even better (Fairview).

honestly in terms of housing prices are pretty consistent. Other good nearby areas include Richardson, Carrollton, McKinney, Wylie, Lucas, Parker, Garland and tons more.

THR often uses a team approach to interviews. The questions are not hard and seem more geared to assessing personality and whether you will mesh well
