Hi,

I see this question on online applications. What does it mean?

"Are you currently excluded from providing services in any federally funded healthcare program including Medicare or Medicaid?"

Individuals and organizations convicted of Medicare/Medicaid fraud and certain other violations of Medicare/Medicaid laws cannot be paid for healthcare services provided to Medicare/Medicaid patients by CMS - Centers for Medicare/Medicaid - the division of the federal Department of Health & Human Services which oversees these programs.

In other words, if a hospital or other health care facility employed an individual who had been convicted of fraud, and the individual took care of a patient whose health insurance coverage is provided through Medicare or Medicaid, CMS would be within its rights to deny payment to the facility for that patient's treatment.

Some language to that effect will be on every job application you complete for any health care organization.

if you knew what it meant the answer would be yes but then you would be someone who has commited fraud so you would probably answer no anyway. If you say no and they find out otherwise then you can be fired.

Thank you Altra and Classicdame for your reply.
