Nurses that are moms plz I need your input

My kids loved daycare and always wanted to stay later, especially as they got older so I do not think that will be a problem for you except for the $$$.

As an adult student I did not find myself needing the same amount of study time I did as a kid but only know what you need.

It will probably be just fine for your classes. The only roadblock I see is when you are in clinicals. Then you may be at a nursing home or hospital at odd hours... 6a-2p, 11p-7a... all possible. You may need to find a nanny or babysitter during those times since daycare won't be an option. But it's possible.

I have a 2.5 year old & a newborn (1.5 week old). I plan on going back to school when my second child is older, probably around the same age as my oldest is now.

My husband is the the only one working right now. He works nights, 4 on/4 off. I know it will be tough but my oldest will be in school & my youngest will be in daycare so I won't have to worry about them during the day.

As far as studying goes when my husband is home he will watch the kiddos so I can study & take care of school work. When he is working I will have to study when they are asleep.

It won't be easy, but it will be worth it!

I work full time M-F as an RN. My daughter (4yo) is in daycare for about 9 hours per day (roughly 7a-4p), 5 days per week. She loves her school and is well taken care of, but I hate that I cannot be home with her more. If my job were not financially imperative , I would (single mom) I would sacrifice pay in a heartbeat to be home with her longer in the mornings and at night. But that's just me.

You're talking about a relatively temporary schedule, and honestly it's probably easier for a 2 year old to adjust to extended daycare than an older child. If RN is your ultimate career goal, then it would probably be better to tackle it now before your child is in school and has after school activities that you will want to attend and homework she needs help with. Whether this is the right move for your family is really something only you can answer.

I was a single mom and worked when I did my LPN years ago. My daughter was under about the same age as yours, the best part was that she went to bed relatively easy every night (7pm) so I'd come home from school and give her my undivided attention until bedtime. Then I'd study for a couple of hours and head to bed by ten myself. It may have been easier that their was no hubby around wanting my attention

My daughter is grown and on her own now, she doesn't even remember that case of our lives, being in daycare or my studying. I always say I can do anything short term.
