I HAVE HAD SOME POSITIVE RESPONSES, BUT THOSE RESPONSES ARE OUT-NUMBERED. I EXPECTED A MUCH MORE POSITIVE AND HONEST FEEDBACK FROM NURSES ABOUT THIS POST. BUT IF YOU INTEND TO RESPOND WITH ANIMOSITY AND NOT WITH CONCERN AND ASSURANCE THAT ITS NOT TRUE ABOUT ALL NURSES.
THEN DONT RESPOND AT ALL.
Geez CHAP....settle down. It's just that ALL your posts are a little...umm...negative?
What a strange line of posts.
It appears to me, CHAP, that your question has been answered nicely a NUMBER of times over.
Universal precautions. That is the answer. No more fussing about it. OK?
As far as someone not wanting to go into nursing....and saying it was because of AIDS, well, that is just plain SILLY. That is also plain dumb. Nursing an AIDS patient is very humbling and satisfying work.
Perhaps, CHAPS, this is not the best forum to ask some of these questions...... I don't know what kind of facility you work in.....but you should seriously evaluate the facility.
Find an RN who is CURRENT, WORKING and WILLING to talk to you and ask some reasonable questions....your line of questioning on this board is ....well, flawed and not too constructive.
I myself do not believe that nurses are afraid of aids, or poop, or that they are snotty and uncaring as some of your other posts suggest . Chap, to come onto this board and continue to post such idiocy and then wonder why you are getting "hostile" responses and question nurses as "professionals" when you are not even in nursing school (i'm not sure about that, your posts vary so much) leads me to believe you are ASKING FOR IT. So do yourself a favor, and stop. Just stop, OK?
