New NCLEX format!!!!!!!!

Has anyone taken the "new" NCLEX-RN yet? I am graduating from an ADN program next year and our instructors are freaking us out with all the horrifying details. I keep hearing different stories and thought I would find out from those who have taken it! We are already practicing taking the new format on our exams, but I don't think they are really that hard. Maybe it's because our instructors aren't that sure about them either. Anyway, any input would be greatly appreciated. Thanks alot!-Tara, LPN/ SN:D

Oh, here is the link for the NCLEX info: http://www.ncsbn.org

It's not that bad. Most questions are still the standard multiple choice questions with 4 possible answers that you choose the correct one from.

There are a few that have six possible answers and you choose all that are correct.

There are a few that show a picture and you point to the correct place on the picture: such as where to asculate for a murmur.

And you get to use a calculator.

I took the NCLEX-RN in June, 2003. Even though they did show the multiple answer format, an addition problem and something about choosing one of 4 different quadrants in the pre-test examples, I did not have any on the actual test.

I didnt have any of the new format when I took the test on Wed. I am still waiting for the results. Geez.............. I hate to wait. I bought 2 new books today to read, one tonight and one tomorrow.

I took boards on June 3 this year and I didn't get any of the new formatted questions.

Is this the one where they wire you up to electrodes that shock you whenever you give an incorrect response?

:chuckle :chuckle That would be a definite improvement over the nightmare that boards actually are!
