I have to get recertified in CPR tomorrow. I'm having trouble finding a site with the new guidelines. Can anyone help me?

As healthcare providers are we doing the compressions only version?

I obviously know how to do it on the job but we always have a tech doing compressions, Resp bagging and the nurse pushing drugs. Obviously it doesn't work that way on checkoff.

from what i understand, as healthcare providers we are moving to 1. tap and shout (gaze across chest to determine adequate breathing) 2. assess pulse. 3.begin compressions if needed(same 30-2 ratio) 4. open airway. 5. assess respiration, repeat. somewhere in there, hopefully the code team will come with your bag before breaths required. check AHA.org, there should be something there. as the changes are recently initiated, i believe there's some allowance for learning (at least when i teach we spend plenty of time in the hands on prior to checkoffs) good luck!

Yeah, I would also say to try the AHA website. At this course they should go over the new guidelines. Did they give you any reference material/websites to review in advance?

Health care providers are not doing "compressions only" CPR. Also, for CPR, no need to worry about drugs, that is ACLS.

Wow it was buried deep in the AHA site but I finally found it. Here it is if anyone else is interested.

We don't have a class or any instruction when we recertify. We just go and take the written test and then do the scenerio on the dummy. The whole thing only takes like 30 minutes. I kind of wish we had a little instruction or review first. We have to go knowing everything.

You could file a complaint with AHA because the people conducting your class are not following guidelines. If you wanted to, you could order a book for yourself from a AHA supplier. I like Worldpoint. You can also do an online program through AHA on your own
