Need to talk to someone familiar with Children's Hospital at Strong in Rochester, NY

An aquaintance's 2 week old baby was just diagnosed with Coarctation of the Aorta.

The parents have been given lots of good info on CoA.

What I am looking for is the un-complicated post-op "routine" at this specific hospital, ie; length of stay in the PICU/NICU, chest tubes/mediastienal drains (yes/no), time on vent, how soon they resume oral feeds, that sort of thing.

Thanks

I can't help you with that particular hospital, but I do send them well wishes. I hope someone chimes in here who can help out! Best wishes to that family and the new baby. I hope a speedy and complete recovery is the outcome.

Thanks much Deb.

I figure this is the very best place to find out the "flow" of things at a specific hospital. I've been able to tell them about my grandson's surgery at Doernbechers but from the information I've found the repair & recovery of CoA is less than TVG (what my grandson had.)
