Nurses General Nursing

I'm an LPN of 19 years, was currently working full time at a job for last 2 1/2 years. LTC nursing, only called in 1 day during my work time. Had a family emergency with parents who live in another city in my state. Both were admitted to hospital that day and I had to go. I was on my way there and was calling work to call in, no staff would answer the phone there. I called DON, no answer, I continued as I drove 100 miles away. Still no answers. The next day I was considered a no call no show. I explained and no good, was let go.

Now I can't get a job anywhere as an LPN because my license was on probation, because a co worker refused to co sign the narcotics destruction paper we were filling out together from a job in 2014. Well it fell on me and my license was put on probation. I have never been on probation before or had any med errors. I've never been on trouble.

NOW I DON'T KNOW WHAT TO DO. I go to interviews and then they don't call or they say I can't hire you because of it.

I can't get a LPN job. What do I do?

It's my lively hood and I'm a widow.

Any help out there?

:( I would have done what you did, with no regret whatsoever. I am

so sorry this happened to you. I wish I had other advice. I guess

just keep looking, there's a place out there somewhere that will hire

you in spite of the problem with your license. Keep looking, keep

being honest about everything that has happened.... you're likely

going to have to settle for a pretty crappy job, but it would be

SOMETHING to keep food on your table, right?

Good luck...

What a sucky situation. I am not going to touch on the issue of your probation and license, as that is a whole different beast in itself. My only suggestion/thought would be fighting for your job to be reinstated at the original facility. There has to be a higher up in the facility that is willing to hear you out. If you can print out a copy of your phone records that show concrete proof that you called several times and made several attempts, this may help. If they are still unwilling to hear you out regarding this, and you truly think your probation issue will prevent you from getting another job, you may want to consult with a nursing lawyer who is familiar with these issues for suggestions.
