i'm not sure what is the right thing to do. ive posted a thread but i'm posting again because i'm frustrated. i've graduated from rn program last year but i could not find a job in the hospital so i accepted a position in the nursing home. i've had few interviews in the hospital but i was not offered a job. i know a nursing home that is affiliated with hospital is accepting applications for nurses. the problem is, that nursing home is 20 miles away from my home. with the gas price going up so high i dont know if its good idea to work there contingent and try to transfer to the hospital. do you think its worth it? i mean is it easier to find a position by transferrring rather than trying to find a job on my own? i need help!!~

I had a similar conversation with my wife last night. I have a MH offer starting in June that I am unsure if I want to accept as it is a training only position. Other job offers have been slow coming. My wife suggested LTC to me. I literally blew my stack because I am afraid of landing in the same situation you are in of being tracked.

I am not opposed to LTC I just don't want it to be my first job. My only suggestion is to take a law of large numbers approach and keep on applying for hospital jobs.

Any of the alternate hospitals that I am interested in working for are a minimum of 50 miles away. :
