I know we vent and chat alot about how hard nursing can be, the hours, the stress, the nonsense, administration, ect. but lately (deep sigh) work is the only thing I enjoy! Do any of you, here ever feel like you hide behind your uniform? I guess what I mean is as my personal life has grown stressful and dissatisfying I find going to work and focusing on others to be a welcome distraction...

I even think of nursing as my "get away car..." and if things don't improve soon, I'm going to take a job far away and start all over...

BLAH, I'm a downer tonight...

Thanks for listening!

I don't drink, I don't smoke, I don't do drugs.

I wrap myself in work, and sometimes I eat my feelings.

So, yeah. What I've done in the past is take time to be by myself, or possibly with one other person where I can count on them not to bring up the issues affecting the rest of my life OR work. I guess in a way it's creating a space for something satisfying and personal to happen. Sometimes this is where some of my greatest moments of self-growth have come from, is the time I spent alone or in confidence with a friend.

I enjoy work too. Yeah..I said it. Now...let me tell you why.

I only work PT. When I am at home...I have 5 kids that are very busy and into alot of activities. We are always remodeling our house and just about every night we have some type of activity of some sort.

When I go to work, I'm in charge and for the most part I well liked and respected. I don't really have to ask my staff to do anything...they know what to do and do it. I get paid a decent wage. No one is calling me mom and pulling on my shirt asking for things. I only work PT..if I was to be FT...I know I would get burned out BTDT.
