Losing HOPE!

Hi. I've read through a few post and this will be my first. I took my exam last week in California. Its been 9 days including the weekend and still no results. All my documents are up to date. This is not the first time I've taken this exam. I really think I did not pass. :crying2: I have no job, no money and have bills to pay. I have no idea what to do at this point. With this economy, it's difficult to find a job. I feel like a failure. I've seen myself as a failure since the first time I did not pass this exam. It has brought me down and changed me. I wish I can get over this exam and pass!! I want to move on and be happy. My failure has stalled me from doing many things. :(:( Sorry for the rant.. I guess my real question is, is there really anyway I could have passed?? The wait is killing me. It's hard to study again. I need to find a job and have income soon. I guess I'm just waiting for that big envelope. Thank You

Keep your head up, I know it's hard but try to distract yourself with friends and family.

I also read through the forums, that the Pearson Vue staff would have no idea if th test taker passed or failed. When I finished my exam, I got finger printed and the proctor asked how I did, I said I don't know. Then he said, "I'm sure you did fine and I am sure we will NOT see you again." So I said I hope so. I really didn't think of it at that time til I got in my car. Maybe he felt sorry for me cause I was sick. I finished in 2 hrs with 70 some questions, had a few dosage calc, meds i did not recognize, priority questions, no delegation. I believe I did poorly in the beginning and picked up on and off along the way. I left the test center not feeling like I failed but I don't know. I test better this time than I did before. I was calm and didn't let my anxiety get to me again. I realized no matter how I studied there was no way to be truly prepared for this test. During the exam, I kinda knew when it was simple to complex questions. I guess all that doesn't really matter right? I hope my prayers get answered.

Thank you for your words.

Try checking your status on the BON website.

I've been checking and nothing at all :crying2:

Thank you all

I forgot to mention, I got my ATT in Feb 09 and they have all my documents. Since I took the exam a month later (March), will that delay results? Does the finger printing clearance take awhile also? Sorry, I think I am just finding excuses to why my results are not posted. :( ..............................................

don't get too discouraged. one of my friends was a few quarters ahead of me in nursing school. i had the pleasure of working with him one day (he was doing his preceptorship on the same unit). he was, to this day, one of the best nurses i've encountered. compassion, competence, ability to delegate and prioritize...he had it all. you know how many times he took the nclex? 6. that's right. 6. he finally passed it, and is now working in surgical ICU, on his way to becoming a charge nurse. some people just don't test well. the nclex is a special test, to say the least. you really have to read the questions closely, and realize that probably 3 out of 5 of the answers are correct, but only 1 of them is the BEST answer. i'm not able to tell you if you passed or failed. all i can tell you is that most people will find out within a few days, regardless of when they took the test (just before a weekend, etc.). actually, people usually find out online before they get their info in the mail. if you passed, you can find out on your state's board website by doing a search for yourself under the search for license tab. if you show up in the results, you've passed and just haven't gotten it in the mail yet. if you don't see yourself, chances are you haven't passed. be sure to type in your name as you had it appear on all your paperwork! if you don't pass, don't lose hope. if you're worried about a job, hospitals and nursing homes are always looking for more cna's and techs. i didn't take my boards until 2 years after i graduated. i graduated at 20yrs of age and i wasn't ready yet being so young. when i finally took the test, i was terrified, and i'm not one to ever get anxiety! so what i did while taking the test was cover all the answers (i looked like a fool with my paper on the computer screen) while i read the question. then i tried to answer the question as best i could by myself. then i would look at option "a" only. after fully reading option "a" i would give it either a "yes", "no", or "maybe". i would do that with each option even if i knew the answer was option "a", just to make sure i didn't miss anything. turns out it worked well for me, and it kept my anxiety at bay. i wasn't too concerned about the clock or what question i was on. I was answering things in my own methodical way, staying consistent to each question. i truly hope that you've either passed, or that you don't fully lose hope and you keep on trying. remember.....6 times!

I know I'm only a 2nd semester student, but my sister has taken and failed the NCLEX PN 3 times (long story) and each time, she has rec'd a letter in the mail within 2 business days with her failure notice. A couple of her friends that passed took SEVERAL business days to get their liscense number.... so there is still hope! Keep us posted!!

Thanks for all the info. I really don't know how to pick myself up from another failure. Been through too many and I've had enough of it. I've taken this test several times already. Tomorrow will continue on to 10 days with no results. I can't face my family and friends, I need to figure something else to do and put nursing aside to get some income. I guess the studying, the prayers, and all of the above didn't work. I have bills to pay to live and with this economy its not that easy to get a good paying job. Thank you for all the uplifting words but it's really not doing me any good. I'm at my low. The man upstairs has other plans for me. Thanks :(

Please keep your chin up! It is an expereince you will never forget! You have all of us here pulling for you, plus you made it through the school part!

I know how you feel, I feel the same way. I took my NCLEX and I think I didn't pass. I feel like a looser and put myself down. I need some income too. But you have gone through a nursing school for a reason: to become a nurse. do not shortchange yourself. You have gone through the hard part, don't give up! Take it as an experience, learn from it and try to pass the next time, NO MATTER HOW MANY TIMES! You are a nurse and the only thing that is keeping you from practicing is a sheet of paper with your name and RN/LVN behind it. And I believe it will happen to you. Believe in yourself, YOU CAN DO IT!

Thanks for the encouraging words but I'm so depressed now. I will try as many times but I can't study anymore. I need money to pay my bills. I need to work again, not sure what but I need something. With this economy and I have no real professional background, I don't know what opportunity I have that will pay the bills. Once I get to work again, It will just take me longer to study and retake the test later in time. I don't know what I'm doing wrong with this exam. I thought I did well when I left the center but I guess I was wrong!

When you're at your low and about to lose everything (home, partner, self confidence, etc), what do you do? Hope for the best? How?..........I hope someone from above answers my prayers. I am losing hope..... :(
