I say more power to her and thank god she didnt die. But I know I couldnt have done it. Maybe she sent the kid before she did it. But how on earth would you know or see what you were doing. Geez
But she saved her kids life, and hopefully is getting the health care she needs.

Wasn't there a story about a man who had to saw his arm off because it was lodged between two rocks and he was stuck? And another about a guy cutting his own leg off after a logging accident?
Human beings are amazing . . . .

I found a little different version of this story:

It seems the woman didn't call the nurse in the beginning, as she was alone when labor began.
Someone on the ABC forum found the following in a hard copy of the Journal:

Abstract
An unusual case of self-inflicted cesarean section with maternal and child survival is presented. No similar event was found in an Internet literature search. Because of a lack of medical assistance and a history of fetal death in utero, a 40-year-old multiparous woman unable to deliver herself alone lady partslly sliced her abdomen and uterus and delivered her child. She was transferred to a hospital where she underwent repair of the incisions and had to remain hospitalized. Mother and child survived the event. Unusual and extraordinary measures to preserve their offspring sometimes moves women to extreme decisions endangering their own lives. Social, educational, and health measures should be instituted all over the world, particularly in rural areas of developing countries, to avoid such extreme events.
In the article, it says she used her skill at slaughtering animals, and it also had photos of her afterwards.
I guess you never know what a person will do to save their child.:).
