Job Market in Houston

Hey guys I was wondering if anyone could tell me anything about the Houston RN job market right now. I'm trying to get an ICU job there if possible. I have about 18 months experience: half in med/surg and half in a long term acute care hospital (LTACH) setting. What do you think my chances are? Any info would be GREATLY appreciated.

Virtually all of the hospitals in the Texas Medical Center are BSN-preferred when it comes to hiring. I'm sure you could get into acute care in Houston with 18 months of experience. However, if you want ICU, I'd focus on suburban hospitals in Webster, the Woodlands, Katy, etc.

I would be living in midtown so I'm really only interested in hospitals in the Texas Medical Center. Do you have any guess what my chances would be like with those hospitals? I have my BSN

@pennstateguy I work at memorial Hermann-TMC and your chances of getting a job in the med center with ICU experience is pretty high. As a matter of fact, I know for sure that Methodist in the med center is hiring for medical icu nurses, GOOD LUCK!

The issue is that the original poster lacks ICU experience and would require plenty of expensive training, which the hospitals may or may not want to provide.

I misread @thecommuter
