I passed, I passed, I passed!!!! Oh my word, I cannot tell you how excited I am!!!

It was so scary, it was so hard. By question #147 I thought, "I'll never get through this, I'll never pass this!" When the computer shut down and said "Report to the supervisor for your results" I thought it meant I failed...I had been told the computer gives you results on the last screen. I was shaking like a leaf! There was an older woman supervising the place and she was so sweet! She went back to get my results and before she even emerged from the hallway she called out "CONGRATULATIONS!" I gave this woman I've never seen before in my life such a big hug!

The testing center was over an hour away from my house and it's 85 degrees and muggy today and the A/C in my car is on the blink! I gave myself two hours to get there and only made one wrong turn.

Now I'm gonna go find that website where I can order myself a CCRN pin!

:kiss Thanks, ZEE. It IS a great feeling!

No, my co-workers don't know yet, as I just got the results in the mail yesterday. It's the same situation for me. When I started working at the MCO 2-1/2 years ago, our old owners required us to obtain our certification within 18 months. Four months later our company was bought out, and the CCM designation was no longer required. I went ahead with the application process...only to have the Commission tell me in October 2001 that I couldn't sit the exam, because I hadn't worked the required 12 months under the supervision of another CCM. I was really ticked off, because I had been hired for my 18 years experience as a Case Manager/Supervisor in home health...and the Commission refused to acknowledge that experience. I was really upset about it, but my supervisor was very supportive and encouraged me to reapply. So, I did, and was finally approved to take the exam in October, 2002.

But, two months before I was to take the exam, my father became very ill. I got a deferment from the Commission to take the exam in April, 2003. It was a good thing that I did, for he passed away two days after the October 26, 2002 exam. I was emotionally exhausted following his death, and as the new exam date approached, I was seriously considering not taking it at all. But, my family and co-workers kept urging me along. The next thing I knew, I was sitting in the classroom of a local University along with many other hopefuls on a sunny Saturday morning and actually laughing to myself: "You have got to be kidding me!"

But, when I looked outside the front door yesterday afternoon and found my mail lying in front of it...along with that big cardboard envelope from the Commission, I lost it. Things have never come easy for me, and I was SO proud of myself, for having perservered. The only regret I have, is that I can't share this with my parents, who were always there for me.

Zee, I apologize for having hogged your thread :imbar . But it is so good, to be able to share our accomplishments, isnt it?

I get an extra $66.00 a month for CCRN. It would be $100.00 if I worked 100%.

I purchased a CCRN plaque for my unit and one for the hospital where I used to work. It is promonently placed. Family and even physicians ask what CCRN means.

It is PROOF of experience and knowledge.

AND you have it forever. When (if?) I retire there is an 'alumnus' or 'emeritus' status a former CCRN can apply for wothout taking the 100 CE hours or validating experience required for renewal.

GO TO NTI if you can! Attend the CCRN luncheon.

CONGRATULATIONS! Wear a CCRN pin!

CseMgr1, that is impressive...you certainly had to persevere to get that. And yes, it is wonderful to be able to share our accomplishments!

Spacenurse, I ordered myself a CCRN pin. :) Just couldn't help myself, lol.
