I was just curious how often we post tele strips on tele vs the unit. From what I have seen in the units we post less than tele. I am not sure I agree with that trend. What do you think?

the unit i am working in now is a cardiac unit,...we post every 4 and prn. the unit i worked in before was open heart and we posted strips and a wedge once a shift and prn.

When I worked cardiac step-down, we posted strips every 8 hours and prn (when there were three separate 8 hour shifts to post on). Nowadays, nurses are working mostly twelve hour shifts, so I can understand the rationale for posting more often.

I currently work on a telemetry unit and out tele clerk reads a strip each shift and if anything abnormal happens(PVC's a run of V-tach..etc). The RN is required to review the strip and initial it if she agrees with what the tele clerk wrote, if not then the RN can re-interpret the strip. Our tele clerks have been there for 20 some years so they are Very good!
