Houston Medical Center Job help

Nurses General Nursing

Hey guys! I've recently moved to Houston after working in Utah as an EMT -I in the ER (or a CCT)I've been working in the medical center doing EKGs for about 8 months now and I was wondering if you guys could help me out a bit with some other job opportunities. Is there any known jobs in the Med Center that has similar job duties (IV insertion, EKGS, wound care, etc.) Another question is that I'm unsure what a PCA III's job duties are and if maybe this job would roughly fit what I'm looking for.

Thanks again so much!

The TMC is the epicenter of healthcare education in Houston - for nursing, medicine & allied health. TMC facilities are very tied in to the local universities and have an endless supply of students who pretty much fill all of the non-licensed clinical jobs. You may also be surprised to discover that Texas has the one of the strongest nurse licensure rules & regs in the US. There are very few invasive tasks that non-licensed staff are permitted to do in an acute care setting.

EMTs & Paramedics are considered "non-licensed" in an inpatient setting, because their scope of practice is strictly in the first-responder realm & ends when they enter the E.D. So - highly unlikely that you are going to be able to continue to do the same sort of work in Texas that you did in Utah... particularly in the TMC.
