Hi I recently moved to tennessee from ny and I'm an lpn. I have sent tons of paper work into the board to transfer my license, when they ran my background check a mistmenor charge from 7 years ago came up even though I was granted youthful offender status for it(I was stupid and wrote a bad check).the board now wants a disposition and a letter from me saying what happen what I learned ect. Any one know what will happen now I didn't have this problem in ny and I have never done anything else not even a speeding ticket

Each state's BON differs so much it's extraordinary. Don't' worry; just write the letter and send it in. They cannot deny your license with that type of youthful offender offense on your record. And please realize that we can get things expunged off our records but when a federal background check is done it all shows up anyway.

It was not a violent offense which is what they're looking for. It's only normal procedure in some states for this to transpire. I feel your pain though; weren't you already tried for that ... write the letter and be safe.

Thank you so much its good to know that they can't deny me since it was youthful offender, I've been going crazy waiting for my license if I would have known it took almost 4 1/2 months I would have stayed in ny til trasfered so I could have been working
