HELP!! Need Help Finding Volunteering Experiences in NJ

Hello everyone! I'm applying to some Accelerated Nursing programs for Fall 2016 but I haven't volunteered in a hospital since 2009... I was wondering if anyone in or near NJ knows any good tips? I've tried contacting RN's I know in my family but they refuse to help me (bad drama there) and there's really no one else I can turn to. Please please any advice would be helpful because I'm new to this beautiful and exciting career field!

Did you try calling the volunteer offices of the facilities in your area? That would be the logical first step. It's not patient care or often not even contact. Most volunteers man the gift shop or information desk maybe run errands for administration

Ok, I think I will try that first. Yeah, my first experience at Yale-New Haven actually involved tons of patient contact. I actually spoke to a woman who spoke to me about her parents experiences at Auschwitz. That was a really emotional encounter. I guess I feel insecure about that because it was so long ago and I believe they would want to see something more up to date. Thanks!

I didn't think it would be so hard to find a place to volunteer! Every hospital I've called is booked!

They are limited especially this time of year when religious programs require volunteer hours, HS students looking for volunteer work. You can try rehab hospitals, LTC and assisted living. Patient interaction would be social not direct care
