What is mega colon? Have done a google search on it in the past and turned up nothing. What would be appropriate pain control for resident with mega colon, g-tube, liquid stool, flatulence and increasing abd pain?

    If I may,

Megacolon: Massive dilation of the colon, which,if left untreated may lead to perforation and peritonitis.(Taber's Cyclopedic Medical Dictionary,Ed,19)

    Use Google only in desperation.

Buy books, and a bookshelf, you avoid pop-up ads and skimming someones website for half an hour. I always find 3 or 4 other things interesting while I'm researching.

How does it get dilated? And what is appropriate pain control. Md refuses anything stronger than ultracet d/t the narcotic affects of constipation. Resident is pain.
