What in particular do you need help with? Several people on this board have taken the MD route after earning a BSN, so you certainly wouldn't be the first. It doesn't really matter what you get your undergraduate degree in, but you'll need to have earned the prerequisites for medical school, which generally includes biology, general chemistry, organic chemistry, physics, calculus and/or statistics. As the previous poster said, you can also do research as a nurse with higher education. Good luck!

I am a PHD prepared research nurse working in the VA as part of a research team. You don't need an MD. Better served if you got a PHD as it would teach you research. MDs don't know how to do real research without the help of a good PHD

once a person gets their MSW they have to sit for their LCSW exam it means Liscensed Clinical Social Worker..it allows them to be liscensed by the state.

If your goal is research, you can get started in it with a bachelor's degree and a major in an applicable science field. My little sister has a bachelor's in Animal Science and does research pertaining to animal nutrition.

If I'm not mistaken, MDs don't really do research and aren't taught that much about research. There are some MD-PhD combination programs out there that train you as a "research physician" but you'll need the PhD to head your own studies.
