  1. I have a mental illness and my nurse that has known me for the past 3 years would want me to recover and go into a field that would interest me. I have gotten different responses from different case managers at my clinical site. They told me that I can go for whatever I want. I was told by the head of the nursing department, that if I have a problem like that, not to go into the nursing program. I really wish I can be the good guy going into this field. I saw "girl, interrupted" and would really like to help people like myself and give them support just like my nurse has done for me. She is very compassionate and very trust worthy. I was told by a person on a chat line that I would have to decide what I would do in my life and not listen to people who were not in my shoes. I would have to have my own judgment on whether I would go into the nursing program or not. I have all of the prerequisites to apply. All I need to do is get my fingerprint clearance card, take the HESI A2, and take one last class to get put on the waiting list, Human Anatomy and Physiology 2. I just don't know what I should do. (I have thought about other careers, like pharmacy technician, phlebotomy technician, medical lab technician, and medical assistant.) I just need help on someone who can give me better advice. Thank you.
  2. I wanted to know if ASU is the best college to become an NP. I like psychiatry and also family practice. I am a guy who is 24 and would like to know if also would it be better to go to community college to get the RN and then go to ASU for BSN or go to ASU or U of A directly to get in the nursing program? I have only one class left to take before I am able to get into nursing school at mesa community college. The wait is 3 semesters.
  3. Would it help if you are a phlebotomist for a hospital and get an education in nursing to become a nurse at that same hospital? I am going to become a phlebotomist but somewhere later on I want to become a nurse. I heard that there are openings for experienced nurses but not for NEW GRADUATES. I want to work in telemetry or dialysis.
  4. Hi, im a guy and Im 24 years old. I want to become a nurse so I can help people in dialysis or telemetry. I m interested in pharmacy school and would like to become a pharmacist. All I think about is how much more money pharmacists make. I dont have any children and I m single. I would like to earn money to help buy a house and a car. Right now Im in community college trying to earn my RN. What would be better, go to NP school or pharmacy school after my bsn? or go to pharmacy school after NP school?
  5. I am from mesa, arizona and have seen that people have been told that they have allergies, particularly people I know in my family and friends. I have noticed that there is a confusion between candida overgrowth and allergies or a viral infection. I want to know if it is possible to test for candida overgrowth in a family medicine office? If I see someone with allergies that are severe, should I send them to an allergist/immunologist to determine any allergic reactions to airborne particles? (I am not even in nursing school yet) I know that there has to be a reason for so much infection in the people that I see everyday. I notice that they have redness in one or both of their eyes. I have been to a doctor and they told me to take oregano oil. What I know is that naturapaths diagnose this condition and MDs don't because it has not been proven in the Medical field. From what the general public knows and what doctors are concerned is that yeast infections are usually found in the urinary tract as well as in the lady parts in females. My concern is that others won't diagnose this and will continue to infect others. Could this be a new strain?
  6. My question is can a Nurse practitioner do medical research? My nurse asked me if I could do that if I wanted to do research. By the way, what is the average salary for a Family NP and a Psych NP? If I cant do research, that is fine. I will just go to school for MD after NP.
  7. I wanted to try to get into medical school using a BSN so I can do research as a doctor, an MD. If you could please help me out. I wanted to get an MD but if I cant I will be a nurse practitioner.
  8. My name is Arturo and I live in Mesa, Az. I have noticed that there is an illness that is going around in my city. I would like to know if someone here can help me. I am going to go to phlebotomy school and I also plan to go to nursing school at the community college I used to go to. I wanted to be an Adult Nurse Practitioner or a Psychiatric Nurse Practitioner. The one thing that is getting in the way is that I have speculation that the people who are sick in my city may have Candida Overgrowth. I want to be a PhD in Microbiology so that I can do research on the people who are sick, with the help of doctors of course. This has been bothering me for a while. I want to become a nurse so that I can pay my debt that I owe. I was told it was the better route for me. All I know is that if I become a nurse practitioner, I wont be able to do research on this subject. I can't warn anyone because I don't have proof. I need help deciding on a career or getting help for the people that need it. I know that nurses help people but I want to be able to prove this. It has not been proven in the medical field for GI tract Candida Overgrowth. It only has been noted with naturapaths. I dont think that Allopathic doctors would consider this as a disease. It has come to my attention that it needs to be taken care of and studied. What should I do?
