I am trying to learn epic "on the job" but I need to sit down with someone one on one and go through the different tasks slowly so I can write it down. I am actually turning down jobs because I don't know epic. I am a pool nurse

Any help, online class??

My understanding is the only way to learn EPIC is to get hired at a facility that uses EPIC as it EMR and go through their training. From what I have read only the super users are sent to MN for the actual EPIC training classes.

However, even if you hired into a facility who uses EPIC they are NOT likely to give you 1:1 training, that allows for copious notes. You would be in a class with many other RN students.

The only way to get to know EPIC is to use it...and keep using it because it always changes. Many facilities have "playground" versions of EPIC databases you can practice on. See if you can get some time on that?

It's like driving a car, sitting down with someone and writing it down probably won't help.

You're turning down job due to lack of experience with Epic? I hope you realize that sounds slightly ridiculous if you were to change to any other context. Jobs offer training, but trust me it means little until you actually use it regularly. You're gonna love it or hate, more likely the later. There are always new tools and flow sheets introduced, thus it's a very dynamic, facility based documentation tool. There is also a generation gap in terms of picking up Epic efficiently, thus I say just jump in and force yourself to learn as you go.
