Do you wear rings to work?

Hi Everybody

I will be starting nursing school this September :monkeydance: and wondering if most nurses wear rings to work. Mainly wedding rings. I would think that with the constant putting on and taking off latex gloves, hand washing etc that wearing rings would be cumbersome and worrisome that the rings/s might come off in the gloves.

What do you do?

I wear it on a chain around my neck. Don't want to harbour icky gross germs under it. I can't stand the feeling if wetness under it since you can never get the area dry after washing. I can't even stand the feeling of wearing a watch at work. I keep it in my pocket.

I would go NUTS without my watch!!!

I have a watch that pins to my collar - upside down for everybody else, good for me, and not in the way of hand-washing.

I don't wear any rings - I think handwashing would be bothersome. The only jewelry I wear at work is a religious medal that hides behind my clothing.

We're allowed to wear wedding/engagement rings to work... I've worn my engagment ring a total of 4 times. And now I leave it at home, because I'm too afraid of loosing it. I've already lost 2 necklaces there because I have a few residents that like to grab at you...

Our unit allows rings and I wear mine. When I've been floated to the Bone Marrow Transplant Unit I didn't, as it was not allowed. I purposely chose an engagement ring that was smaller (1/2 carat) and with a lower 6-prong setting so it wouldn't cause as many problems at work. My husband researches everything to death and figured that was the most stable setting. I like sparklies, so my band has diamonds, but it's a pave setting, flush with the metal so it doesn't stick up.

Hey,

My school limits us to one ring, no protuding stones. Just because it is easier for me, I don't wear rings to clinicals.
