  1. Go talk to an someone in advising at the school, and get busy taking your prereqs. In ten years you'll be the same age, it is up to you if you're a nurse or not. You totally can do it if you put your nose to the grindstone. Go, go, go! Keep us posted!
  2. jmuhammad10, I totally understand your perspective about taking out loans to go for your NP. I do not know which state in which you reside, but do a google search to see if there is an agency that advocates for rural health or underserved populations. This may be a good starting point locating some sort of funding/repayment. Keep us posted! s
  3. Post moved to NC forum. Thanks, s
  4. Hello allnurses, Hope everyone is having an awesome summer. I am currently researching some RN to MSN programs (here in NC). I was wondering if anyone has done the RN to MSN program @ UNC-Chapel Hill, and what the experience was like..... Thanks, s:)
  5. Hi there, I currently teach a CNAI course through my local community college. I am full time, and work 8-5, with an hour lunch break, no nights, no weekends, no holidays. I understand that most CNA instructors are part time and the full time jobs are few and far between, but do your research. I know of others that work pretty much the same schedule who work for insurance companies as well as public health. With all of theses some clinical experience is needed, at least one year. Research, you may find something. s
  6. Thanks Mandykal, We did go right ahead and start practicing. I searched high and low and could not find the type of worksheet I wanted. I remember we had some back in nursing school. For the test, I am thinking that I will take your advise and make my own. -s
  7. Hello nursing world,:yeah: As some may know, I have taken a teaching position at our local cc teaching a CNA program. Oh, it is so fun and exciting. We are working on VS. I was wondering if anyone knows where I may find pictures of various BP and temp readings where the students will actually have to fill in the numbers. I would like them to work on the reading skills before we move on to actually checking each other. Thanks in advance!, -s
  8. elkpark, Thanks for your reply. You have some valid points! -s
  9. Thanks for your reply! I will be a 12 month employee. My first day was Thursday. Any info would be greatly helpful! -s:loveya:
  10. You are a caring person.... and that is very important in nursing. I agree with what someone mentioned earlier, in time you will find a way to cope with the stressors. Keep your head up. It is a wonderful calling to be a nurse, you will make it through. -s
  11. ch232, I could totally be wrong as I live in NC and you may not. It is my understanding that ALFs do not have to have a nurse on staff at all. It is a SNF that must be staffed with nurses (as well as CNAs). So if this is true, the nurse would be "extra". Please anyone if this is incorrect, put me on the right path. Thanks, -s
  12. myperdas, Just curious, have you found anything yet? I really hope so, I can only imagine how much that could make a person feel down in the dumps. -s
  13. Hello all, Hope everyone is doing well. Currently I am considering accepting a full time position teaching CNA courses at a local community college. I was wondering if any of you are working or have recently worked for a NC community college, if so what were some of the benefits/perks... a free class each semester? how does vacation time/admin time work? etc... Thanks is advance, -s:coollook:
  14. Welcome to NC~ May this be the start of many GREAT things, -s
  15. Hello smartnurse1982, Have you tried over at the Valley? Keep you hopes up. When you submit an application, call the hiring manager a couple of days later to follow up on your application status. Just my two cents. Hopefully something will come along soon. Please keep us posted. -s
