Hey guys, I graduated this past spring with my LPN and will go back to school to finish my RN starting fall of 2012. I am really interested in civilian military nursing. I have no military background and have no direct family ties to anyone in the military but I am VERY interested in learning more about civilian nursing. Can anyone point me in the right direction?? I don't know much about it and don't know where to start looking or who to start talking to!! Please help...I would love to look more into it!!!:)

There is an entire sub-forum dedicated to military nursing: https://allnurses.com/government-military-nursing/

Specializes in ER, progressive care.

You could try to apply to the VA, or go to http://www.usajobs.com to look for nursing jobs on military installations. The VA hires new grads but military hospitals tend to look for experienced RNs with 2-3 years of experience under their belt. Good luck!
